Patterns written with perl regular expressions, egrep regex, MS Word or Brief pattern matching languages can be designed and tested with syntax highlighting and a slick test facility. PatternHelper can run stand-alone, and also integrates with TextPipe Pro and a host of other applications. Default patterns can also be chosen from a list.
